
AI agents are getting easier to run. The models are more capable, the tools are showing up inside normal workflows, and the cost of asking for research, drafts, comparisons, summaries, or revisions is coming down.
That is useful. It also creates a harder problem: cheaper execution mostly creates more work that needs to be judged.
The Better Question
The old question was, “Can AI make something?” Increasingly, the answer is yes.
The better question is, “How do we know when it made the right thing?”
This is different from autonomy governance. Boundaries decide what a system is allowed to do. A quality bar decides whether the work it produced is accurate, useful, on-brand, and ready to use.
For marketing and design teams, the advantage is not just a tool that can produce a campaign draft, layout, report, landing page, or ad set. The advantage is a system clear enough to know whether the output is accurate, on-brand, useful, and safe to ship.
More Output Can Expose Weak Strategy
Capable AI can make weak inputs look finished. A vague offer can become polished copy. A half-formed campaign can become a content calendar. A messy CRM can produce confident summaries.
That is not a reason to avoid AI. It is a reason to put the right structure around it.
A Lightweight Quality Bar
A useful scorecard can be simple. The point is to make review less dependent on taste alone.
Purpose: what is this workflow supposed to accomplish?
Inputs: what source material is allowed?
Standards: what brand, claim, design, privacy, or accuracy rules apply?
Failure modes: how can this workflow go wrong?
Review gate: who checks the output before it is used?
Examples: what does good look like, and what is unacceptable?
Change log: what changed in the prompt, model, tool, or source material?
Use It on One Workflow
Choose one recurring workflow and score three recent outputs against the same purpose, source material, standards, failure modes, and review gate. The gaps will show whether the problem is the tool, the inputs, or the definition of good.
Build the quality bar before you add more output. Then speed has a standard to serve.
